For Christ has set us free"
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." (Galatians 5:1)
Freedom is a process. This scripture is refreshing because its a clear statement of Christ's will for our lives. Sometimes life get can heavy, we get distracted, and too zoomed in on our everyday circumstances. In my own life I can often be bogged down by decisions which are simply not a great issue with God. God is the issue always.
"For Christ has set us free"
Christ's will for our lives is to enjoy freedom. We must arrange our lives in a manner where we stand firm in freedom and not get caught in the small things that enslave us. Even decisions such as choosing your school, careers, etc can seem far greater when were zoomed in, but if they were really that important the bible would have commanded those things as clearly as it commands freedom here. God cares much more that we enjoy our freedom than many of the day-to-day decisions that fill our calendars.
"Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
There's a cost for freedom and it's all driven by measuring our life by the pain. The pain to stay the same vs the pain to change. Which one are you giving more room for? Where do you need more freedom? If the pain to the same is greater than the pain to change than you will compromise freedom for comfort. However I think we can all admit we've spent a lot time feeding our fears, listening, and being blackmailed by them that some of them have built a cosy nest on top our heads. Sometimes our fears are so persistent that we can actually get "stuck" in our heads and miss the abundant life of freedom Christ died for in our places. We serve a God of the impossible, a God of the Suddenly....
My pledge is that if you are struggling with freedom like myself I pray you will stop reasoning with your fears while you are running away from them and turn around, stand firm, and fight. We are meant to be conquerors and the devil will do everything in his power to get us to believe lies that will hold us back from enjoying the freedom Christ died for.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
"Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world"
(1 John:4:4)
If you want more freedom understand its a process. If you want more love run at fear. Yes, turn around and run at fear. Get angry at the things that are not from the kingdom. Understand that the habits in your mind will have to be calibrated and it will not be comfortable. Understand if you cant feel your pain than you can't feel comfortable. You may have to fake it before you make it and you can start by declaring you will stand firm when the accuser comes. We must change truth before feelings change.
Be prepared and have a strategy....Scream No, replace the thoughts immediately with another thought or positive affirmation, sing a song, pinch yourself, memorize scripture, whatever it takes because remember we are plowing a new path in our minds but the price of this pain will be worth the freedom Christ died for! I pray that we will ALL embrace the process, trust in our futures, and step into the full destiny for our lives. That is the will of God for us: to be free. Christ died for us, rose from the dead, and sent his Spirit so we could live an abundant life of freedom.
With Love,
Frank
